Zionist movement
The Zionist Movement emerged in the late 19th century as a Jewish nationalist effort to establish a homeland for Jews in Palestine, motivated by rising anti-Semitism in Europe and a desire for self-determination. Spearheaded by figures like Theodor Herzl, it aimed to create a sovereign Jewish state in response to historical persecution. The movement gained momentum, leading to increased Jewish immigration to Palestine, particularly in the early 20th century. The establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 marked a significant achievement for Zionism, but also sparked ongoing conflict with the Arab population and broader regional tensions.
