Theodor Herzl

Theodor Herzl was a Jewish journalist and writer born in 1860 who is considered the founder of modern political Zionism. He believed that Jewish people should have their own homeland to escape persecution and discrimination. His 1896 book, "The Jewish State," laid the intellectual groundwork for the Zionist movement.
