Bilu Movement
The Bilu Movement was a Jewish nationalist movement in the late 19th century, primarily in the 1880s, advocating for the re-establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Driven by ideals of Jewish self-reliance and modern Zionism, Bilu members believed in settling in Palestine to rebuild Jewish life and culture there. They emphasized agricultural development and education as steps toward national revival. The movement played a significant role in initiating organized Zionist efforts, inspiring future migrations and institutions that contributed to the eventual establishment of the State of Israel.
