Westminster Assembly
The Westminster Assembly was a gathering of English theologians and members of Parliament that took place from 1643 to 1653 during the English Civil War. Convened in Westminster, London, its main purpose was to reform the Church of England and address religious disputes. The Assembly produced important documents, including the Westminster Confession of Faith, which outlines key Protestant beliefs, and the larger and shorter catechisms, which serve as teaching tools. The Assembly significantly influenced Reformed Christianity and the structure of various Protestant denominations, especially in England and Scotland.
