Church of England Assembly

The Church of England Assembly, established in 1919, was a governing body designed to represent the views of the Church of England in legislative matters. It aimed to give the Church a voice in national issues and to promote its interests within the framework of the British government. The Assembly functioned until 1969, when it was restructured into the General Synod, which remains the primary decision-making body for the Church today. The Assembly was notable for its attempts to integrate church concerns with societal governance while maintaining the Church's autonomy and spiritual mission.
