Western Front

The Western Front refers to the main battleground in Western Europe during World War I, primarily between Germany and the Allies, including France and Britain. It stretched from the North Sea to Switzerland and became known for its brutal trench warfare, where soldiers faced harsh conditions and little territorial gain. The Front was characterized by static lines and intense battles, such as those at Verdun and the Somme, resulting in immense casualties. The stalemate lasted for years, significantly influencing the war's outcome and shaping the geopolitical landscape of Europe in the years that followed.
