Von Schlieffen Plan

The von Schlieffen Plan was Germany's military strategy during the early stages of World War I. It aimed to quickly defeat France by invading through Belgium before turning to fight Russia. The plan relied on rapid movement and the element of surprise, anticipating that a swift victory in the west would prevent a two-front war. However, logistical challenges, unexpected resistance from Belgium and France, and the quick mobilization of Russian forces ultimately led to its failure. The plan’s complications contributed to the protracted trench warfare that characterized much of the war.
