weak ties theory

Weak Ties Theory, proposed by sociologist Mark Granovetter, suggests that relationships we have with acquaintances—rather than close friends—are often more beneficial in spreading information and opportunities. While strong ties offer emotional support, weak ties connect us to different social circles, providing access to new ideas and resources. For example, a friend of a friend can introduce you to job opportunities or diverse perspectives that your close friends, who may share similar backgrounds, cannot. In essence, maintaining a broad network of weaker connections can enrich our lives and enhance opportunities.
