War of the Reunions
The War of the Reunions (1683-1684) was a conflict between France and the Holy Roman Empire, primarily led by Louis XIV of France. It focused on France's attempt to reclaim territories it considered rightfully part of its domain, particularly in the region of Alsace. The war ended with the Treaty of Ryswick in 1697, which recognized French control over certain areas while establishing borders and peace in Europe. The conflict highlighted the tensions between expanding empires and the geopolitical landscape of the late 17th century.
