Wallace Line

The Wallace Line is an imaginary boundary that separates the distinct animal species of Asia and Australia. Named after the naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, it runs between Bali and Lombok, and north of Sulawesi, marking a significant ecological divide. To the west, you find Asian wildlife, while to the east, Australian species dominate. This line illustrates how geographical barriers have influenced animal evolution and distribution, leading to unique biodiversity on either side.
