Vocal fold paresis
Vocal fold paresis is a condition where one or both of the vocal folds (also called vocal cords) are weakened or partially paralyzed, affecting their ability to open and close properly. This can lead to issues such as hoarseness, a weak voice, difficulty speaking, or even breathing problems. It can result from nerve damage due to surgery, injury, or underlying medical conditions. Treatment options vary, including voice therapy, injections to improve vocal fold function, or, in some cases, surgery, depending on the severity and underlying cause of the paresis.
