Neuromuscular Disorders

Neuromuscular disorders are conditions that affect the connection between nerves and muscles, impairing movement, strength, and coordination. They include a range of diseases such as muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and peripheral neuropathies. These disorders can cause muscles to weaken, shrink, or become unresponsive, leading to difficulties with daily activities like walking, speaking, or breathing. They often result from genetic, immune, or neurological factors. Diagnosis involves medical tests, and treatment focuses on managing symptoms, maintaining function, and improving quality of life, although many neuromuscular disorders currently have no cure.
