Vinification

Vinification is the process of transforming grapes into wine. It begins with harvesting and crushing the grapes to release their juice. The juice then undergoes fermentation, where naturally occurring or added yeasts convert the sugars into alcohol and other compounds, developing the wine’s flavors. This process includes steps like temperature control, fermentation duration, and sometimes aging in barrels. Throughout vinification, winemakers carefully monitor and adjust conditions to influence the wine’s taste, aroma, and clarity. Essentially, vinification is the art and science of converting raw grapes into the finished wine enjoyed worldwide.
