Usman dan Fodio
Usman dan Fodio was a prominent Islamic scholar and reformer in the early 19th century, known for leading a significant movement in what is now northern Nigeria. His jihad (struggle) aimed to purify Islam and establish a more just society, challenging corrupt practices and promoting education. In 1804, he founded the Sokoto Caliphate, which became one of the largest empires in Africa. Dan Fodio's influence extended beyond religion, impacting social, economic, and political structures in the region, and he is remembered today as a key figure in African history and Islamic thought.
