Type II Fibers

Type II fibers, also known as fast-twitch muscle fibers, are specialized muscle fibers that contract quickly and powerfully. They're best suited for short bursts of activity, like sprinting or weightlifting, as they produce more force but tire out quickly. Unlike Type I fibers, which are endurance-oriented and slower, Type II fibers rely more on anaerobic metabolism, meaning they don’t need oxygen for quick energy. These fibers are crucial for activities that require strength and speed, making them important for athletes in sports that involve short, intense efforts.
