Turkish National Movement
The Turkish National Movement was a political and military effort in the early 20th century to establish an independent Turkish state. After the Ottoman Empire’s decline and occupation by foreign powers following World War I, Turkish leaders and nationalists sought to resist these influences and reclaim sovereignty. Led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the movement culminated in the Turkish War of Independence (1919-1923), resulting in the founding of the Republic of Turkey in 1923. It emphasized national identity, sovereignty, and modern reforms, shaping Turkey’s political and social structure moving forward.
