Third Punic War
The Third Punic War (149-146 BC) was the last conflict between the ancient powers of Rome and Carthage. Following earlier wars, tensions remained high due to fears of Carthage's resurgence. Rome, determined to eliminate its rival, laid siege to Carthage for three years. The city eventually fell, and the Romans destroyed it, marking the end of Carthaginian civilization. Afterward, Rome transformed the region into a province. This war solidified Roman dominance in the Mediterranean and highlighted the lengths to which Rome would go to eliminate threats.
