Siege of Carthage

The Siege of Carthage (149–146 BC) was the final battle of the Third Punic War, where Roman forces laid siege to the North African city of Carthage. Rome aimed to destroy its powerful rival and ensure dominance over the Mediterranean. After years of conflict, Romans overwhelmed Carthage’s defenses through blockade and siege tactics. When the city fell, they razed it, ending Carthage as a major power and establishing Roman control over the region. This event marked the complete Roman conquest of North Africa and significantly expanded Rome’s empire.
