The Navarrese Wars

The Navarrese Wars were a series of conflicts in the late 15th and early 16th centuries primarily between the Kingdom of Navarre and the Kingdom of Spain. Navarre, a small kingdom located in the northern region of present-day Spain and southern France, sought to maintain its independence against Spanish expansion. The wars culminated in 1512, when Spanish forces invaded and effectively annexed Navarre. Tensions persisted with various uprisings and attempts at reclaiming autonomy, but by the late 16th century, Navarre became fully integrated into the Spanish Crown, marking the end of its sovereign status.
