The Multi-Store Model of Memory
The Multi-Store Model of Memory describes how we process information and store it in three main stages: sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory. Sensory memory briefly holds incoming information from our senses. If we pay attention to it, it moves to short-term memory, where we can work with it for a short time. With further rehearsal or meaningful connection, it can be transferred to long-term memory, where general knowledge, experiences, and facts are stored for extended periods. This model helps us understand how we learn and recall information in different contexts, including general knowledge.
