LTM (Long-term Memory)
Long-term memory (LTM) is the stage of memory responsible for storing information over extended periods, from minutes to a lifetime. It allows us to retain knowledge, skills, and experiences beyond immediate awareness. LTM involves complex processes like encoding, storage, and retrieval, and it can be divided into explicit memory (conscious facts and experiences) and implicit memory (unconscious skills and habits). This system enables us to learn, remember past events, and adapt based on previous experiences, forming the foundation of our personal identity and knowledge base.
