Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand was a French diplomat and political figure regarded for his exceptional skill in negotiation and political maneuvering during a tumultuous period in France from the late 18th to the early 19th century. Initially a key supporter of the French Revolution, he later served under Napoleon Bonaparte but eventually opposed his ambitions.
