Takotsubo Syndrome

Takotsubo Syndrome, often referred to as "broken heart syndrome," is a temporary heart condition that mimics a heart attack. It typically occurs after intense emotional or physical stress, leading to a sudden weakening of the heart's muscle. The name comes from the shape the heart takes during the syndrome, resembling a traditional Japanese octopus trap (takotsubo). Symptoms may include chest pain and shortness of breath, but it usually resolves on its own. Although it can be serious, most people recover without long-lasting damage. Understanding this condition is essential for recognizing and addressing heart health.
