South Sudan

South Sudan is a country in East-Central Africa that gained independence from Sudan in 2011, making it the world’s newest nation. It is landlocked and predominantly rural, with diverse ethnic groups and languages. The country faced conflict and civil war soon after independence, driven by political, ethnic, and economic tensions, which caused significant suffering and displacement. Since a peace agreement in 2018, South Sudan has been working toward stability and development, but it still faces challenges like poverty, infrastructure needs, and reconciliation. Its economy largely depends on oil, but political and social progress remains ongoing.
