Intergovernmental Authority on Development

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is a regional organization in East Africa, founded in 1986. Its main purpose is to promote cooperation among its member countries on key issues like peace, security, economic development, and environmental management. IGAD comprises eight member states, including Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan. The organization works to address challenges such as drought, conflict, and food security in the region. By facilitating dialogue and coordination among governments, IGAD aims to foster stability and sustainable development in East Africa.
