Sole Custody
Sole custody means that one parent has the exclusive legal right to make important decisions about a child’s upbringing, including education, healthcare, and religious training. This parent, often referred to as the custodian, is responsible for the child’s daily care and living arrangements. The non-custodial parent may still have visitation rights, allowing them to spend time with the child, but they do not have a say in major decisions. Sole custody is often granted when it is considered to be in the best interest of the child, typically due to concerns about the other parent's ability to provide a safe environment.
