Seyfert galaxy

A Seyfert galaxy is a type of galaxy that contains an active nucleus, where the supermassive black hole at its center is actively consuming material. This process generates intense radiation, making Seyfert galaxies some of the brightest objects in the universe. They are categorized into two types: Type 1, which show broad spectral lines indicating fast-moving gas, and Type 2, which have narrower lines, often due to dust obscuring our view. Seyfert galaxies are important for studying the growth of black holes and the dynamics of galaxy evolution.
