SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest)
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a critical medical emergency where the heart unexpectedly stops beating effectively, leading to a loss of consciousness and absence of breathing. This can occur due to heart rhythm problems, like ventricular fibrillation, which interrupts the heart's ability to pump blood. SCA can happen to anyone, often without warning, and requires immediate intervention. Quick action, such as calling emergency services and performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) or using a defibrillator, is vital to increase the chances of survival. SCA differs from a heart attack, which is caused by blocked blood flow to the heart muscle.
