Defibrillation

Defibrillation is a medical procedure used to restore a normal heart rhythm in cases of life-threatening arrhythmias, where the heart beats irregularly or stops beating altogether. A defibrillator delivers a controlled electric shock to the heart, which can reset its electrical activity and allow it to resume a normal rhythm. This is often needed during cardiac arrest and can be done with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) found in many public places or with specialized equipment in hospitals. Timely defibrillation can significantly increase the chances of survival in such emergencies.
