Saint Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) was an Italian mystic, theologian, and author, known for her deep spirituality and influential role in the Catholic Church. She was a member of the Dominican Order and dedicated her life to serving the poor and the sick. Catherine is best known for her letters to popes and political leaders, advocating for reform within the Church and unity in Christendom. She experienced profound mystical visions and played a crucial role in bringing the papacy back to Rome from Avignon. Canonized in 1461, she is a Doctor of the Church and is celebrated on April 29.
