Sadr-e-Riyasat
Sadr-e-Riyasat was the title given to the constitutional head of state in Jammu and Kashmir when it had its own constitution, separate from India. Established during the region's unique political context post-independence in 1947, this position was akin to a governor or president, responsible for representing the state, ensuring governance, and upholding rights. The role was significant until the constitutional integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India, following which the title was replaced, and the region came under Indian law. Understanding this term provides insight into Jammu and Kashmir's complex political history.
