Sadr-e-Riyasat (Constitutional Position)

The Sadr-e-Riyasat was a constitutional position in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, acting as the ceremonial head of the state, similar to a governor. This role was separate from the chief minister, who handled day-to-day governance. The Sadr-e-Riyasat represented the state's unity and divine authority, exercising formal duties like signing bills and presiding over official functions, but without significant executive power. In 1965, the position was abolished, and the role of the governor was established to serve as the official head of the state within the Indian Union framework.
