Government of Jammu and Kashmir

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is the regional authority responsible for managing local governance, law, and development in the region. It operates under a constitutional framework, with executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The Chief Minister leads the administration, supported by ministers, while a legislative assembly enacts laws. Historically, Jammu and Kashmir had a special status under India's constitution, but this was revoked in 2019, leading to the region being reorganized into two separate Union Territories—Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh—with direct federal oversight and local governance structures established accordingly.
