Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty

Reverse shoulder arthroplasty is a surgical procedure designed to relieve pain and restore function in patients with severe shoulder joint problems, particularly when other treatments have failed. Unlike traditional shoulder replacements, where the ball and socket are replaced in a typical way, this procedure alters the anatomy by switching their positions: the socket is replaced with a metal ball, and the ball with a cup. This reverse design allows the remaining shoulder muscles, especially the deltoid, to compensate for rotator cuff injuries, helping patients regain arm movement and strength. It is commonly used for conditions like rotator cuff tears and arthritis.
