respiratory physiology

Respiratory physiology involves the process of breathing, where the lungs exchange gases with the environment. When you breathe in, air travels through your airways to reach tiny air sacs called alveoli in the lungs. Here, oxygen from the air passes into your bloodstream, while carbon dioxide, a waste product, moves from your blood into the lungs to be exhaled. This process is vital for supplying oxygen to your body's tissues and removing carbon dioxide. Breathing is controlled by your brain, which adjusts the rate and depth based on your activity level and carbon dioxide levels in your blood.
