Repeal Association
The Repeal Association was a political movement in Ireland during the 19th century, advocating for the repeal of the Act of Union 1800, which had merged the Irish Parliament with the British Parliament. Founded by Daniel O'Connell in 1830, the Association sought to restore Irish self-governance and address issues like poverty and Catholic emancipation. Through peaceful protests and mass mobilization, it aimed to unite people for Ireland's political rights. Although it didn't achieve immediate repeal, the movement significantly influenced Irish nationalism and laid the groundwork for future struggles for independence.
