Repeal Movement

The Repeal Movement was a political campaign in the 19th and early 20th centuries advocating for the abolition of the British-era Government of India Act (1935), which granted limited autonomy to India. Supporters sought to revoke this act to pursue complete independence from British rule. Essentially, it was a push to replace colonial control with self-governance, emphasizing national sovereignty and ending colonial interference in Indian affairs. The movement played a significant role in fostering Indian unity and independence efforts, ultimately leading to India gaining independence in 1947.
