John Mitchel (politician and journalist)
John Mitchel (1815–1875) was an influential Irish nationalist politician, journalist, and writer. He played a significant role in the Irish struggle for independence during the 19th century. Mitchel was a founding member of the Young Ireland Movement and famously advocated for armed rebellion against British rule. He was also known for his newspaper, the "United Irishman," which promoted Irish nationalism. His strong views led to his imprisonment and later exile to Australia.
