recognition memory
Recognition memory is the ability to identify previously encountered information or experiences. In the context of general knowledge, it involves recalling facts, concepts, or events when presented with options. For example, if you see a list of countries and can point out which ones you've learned about before, that’s recognition memory at work. It’s different from recall, where you retrieve information from memory without any prompts. Recognition memory helps us assess how much we remember about topics we’ve studied or experienced.
