RAS pathway
The RAS pathway is a series of molecular interactions that help cells respond to signals, typically from growth factors. When a growth factor binds to a cell's surface, it activates a protein called RAS. This protein then triggers a cascade of events inside the cell, leading to growth, division, and survival. The RAS pathway plays a crucial role in normal cellular functions and development. However, mutations in the RAS gene can lead to uncontrolled cell growth, contributing to cancer. Thus, the RAS pathway is significant in both health and disease, particularly in oncology.
