Quorum sensing

Quorum sensing is a communication process used by bacteria to coordinate their behavior based on their population size. Bacteria release signaling molecules into their environment; as more bacteria are present, these molecules accumulate. Once a threshold concentration is reached, it triggers collective actions such as forming communities, producing toxins, or sharing resources. This process allows bacteria to act in unison, enhancing their survival and effectiveness, much like a group of people signaling each other to coordinate a large event.
