Ptolemy VI Philometor

Ptolemy VI Philometor was a king of ancient Egypt who ruled from 180 to 145 BCE. He was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, which descended from Alexander the Great's general, Ptolemy I. Philometor's reign was marked by political turmoil, including struggles for power with rival factions and foreign invasions, notably by the Seleucid Empire. He sought to stabilize Egypt through alliances and treaties. His title "Philometor," meaning "mother-loving," reflects his close ties to his mother, Cleopatra I. Despite challenges during his reign, he contributed to Egypt's cultural and economic life during a complex historical period.
