Primary Hyperparathyroidism
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a condition where one or more of the parathyroid glands in the neck produce too much parathyroid hormone. This hormone regulates calcium levels in the body. Excess hormone can lead to high calcium levels in the blood, causing symptoms like fatigue, kidney stones, bone pain, and confusion. It is often caused by a benign tumor on a gland. Diagnosis typically involves blood tests and imaging, and treatment may include surgery to remove the overactive gland or monitoring if symptoms are mild.
