Port of Tyre
The Port of Tyre, located in southern Lebanon, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited ports in the world, dating back to ancient Phoenician times. It was historically significant as a center of trade, known for its purple dye, glass, and timber. The port facilitated maritime commerce across the Mediterranean, contributing to Tyre's wealth and influence. Today, while it may not hold the same prominence as in antiquity, the port still serves local fishing and transportation needs and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated for its historic ruins and cultural importance.
