Plymouth Colony

Plymouth Colony was one of the earliest successful English settlements in North America, established in 1620 by a group of Pilgrims seeking religious freedom. They arrived aboard the Mayflower and settled in present-day Massachusetts. The colony faced harsh conditions but eventually thrived through cooperation with Indigenous peoples, particularly the Wampanoag. Plymouth is famous for the first Thanksgiving in 1621, celebrating their harvest. The colony became part of Massachusetts in 1691, but its legacy remains a symbol of early American aspirations for liberty and self-governance.
