King Philip's War

King Philip's War (1675–1678) was a brutal conflict between Native American tribes, led by Metacom (King Philip), and English settlers in New England. The war arose from tensions over land, sovereignty, and cultural clashes as settlers expanded into native territories. It resulted in widespread destruction, loss of life, and significant disruption to both communities. Ultimately, the English victory diminished Native American influence in the region, leading to increased colonization and marginalization of indigenous peoples. The war is considered one of the deadliest conflicts in American colonial history relative to population size.
