Permian Period

The Permian Period was the last geological time frame of the Paleozoic Era, lasting from about 299 to 252 million years ago. During this time, Earth experienced significant changes in climate and geography. The landmasses combined to form the supercontinent Pangaea, and diverse life thrived, including early reptiles, insects, and the first true mammals. However, the Permian ended with the largest mass extinction in Earth's history, wiping out around 90% of species. This dramatic event reshaped ecosystems, setting the stage for the rise of dinosaurs in the following Mesozoic Era.
