Pashto is an Indo-Iranian language primarily spoken in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is one of the two official languages of Afghanistan, alongside Dari. Pashto has its own script, using a variant of the Arabic alphabet, and is rich in poetry and oral tradition. It belongs to the Pashto-speaking ethnic group called Pashtuns, who have a unique culture and history. The language has various dialects, with Eastern and Western Pashto being the most prominent.
