Parliament of the Ottoman Empire
The Parliament of the Ottoman Empire, established in 1908, marked a significant shift towards modern governance in the empire. It was an assembly where representatives discussed laws and policies, reflecting a move from absolute monarchy to constitutional rule. The Parliament consisted of two chambers: the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. It aimed to address issues such as national identity and minority rights in the diverse empire. Although it faced challenges, including internal conflicts and external pressures, it played a crucial role in the eventual modernization and reform efforts within the empire until its dissolution after World War I.
