Ottoman Modernization
Ottoman modernization refers to the reforms in the Ottoman Empire during the 19th and early 20th centuries aimed at modernizing its political, military, and economic systems. Influenced by European developments, these reforms included creating new laws, establishing modern schools, improving infrastructure, and reforming the military. The goal was to strengthen the empire and compete with Western powers. However, these efforts faced resistance and challenges, and while some reforms succeeded, they ultimately could not prevent the empire's decline and eventual dissolution after World War I. Modernization aimed to adapt to changing times while preserving traditional values.
